Next steps for Sage 300 users

5 Minute Read

What next for Sage 300 UK & Ireland users? Read our FAQ

As a Sage user, you are hopefully already aware that Sage 300 is no longer available for purchase here in the UK & Ireland.

There will be no further updates or upgrades for existing users, nor the option to purchase additional licenses for those already using Sage 300 on a perpetual licence.

These changes have already taken effect, as of 31st May 2021.

As far as support for Sage 300 users is concerned, direct support from Sage UK will also be withdrawn from 30th September 2022.

We are not suggesting you should no longer use Sage 300 but we would recommend you review your longer-term business systems strategy to ensure you make the right decisions for your business and that any action you take is as smooth as possible.

It is important to note that it is only support directly from Sage UK that will be coming to an end; Acuity/Oakuity will continue to support its existing customers who wish to continue using Sage 300 past 30th September 2022.

However, the challenge will be that if any issues arise with your Sage 300 software that cannot be resolved in-house by us, we will not be able to rely on any UK support from Sage.

For example, if your operating system is updated and becomes incompatible with your running version of Sage 300, or if there are any statutory legal updates such as Making Tax Digital.

We understand that deciding what to do next may not be an easy process for you.

FAQs

Sage regularly reviews the software and services they offer to UK & Ireland businesses to ensure they continue to deliver the very best innovation and support to customers.

As part of a recent review, they have decided to stop investing in Sage 300 within the UK and Ireland region.

Sage will be withdrawing the support for Sage 300 on the 30th September 2022.

You will continue to get support from Acuity/Oakuity.

As always, we aim to help to the best of our ability and knowledge. However, if a support escalation is required, we are unlikely to be able to rely on Sage.

Yes, you can continue to use your existing Sage 300 solution.

However, Sage have not provided any warranty or guarantees as to how long the license will continue to be active.

We would like to advise that using software that isn’t being maintained by the author is a risk to your business. Using outdated software with no updates, incompatibility with other applications using up-to-date technology, and the limited capacity will put a strain on your business. You may find that business advisors (for example, your auditor) will insist on you running supported software.

As your partner we will continue to try and resolve the issue to the best of our ability; however, we cannot guarantee a successful outcome.

Unfortunately, the purchase of new user licenses has been withdrawn since the 31st May 2021 .

Sage 300 2021 was released on 10th December 2020 and was available until 31st May 2021. If you have not already upgraded, this option is no longer available to you.

As mentioned, if you have not upgraded or purchased your upgrade by the 31st May 2021, you will not be able to move to the latest version of Sage 300.

It is fortunate that Sage provides a range of business and financial management solutions that are true cloud, on-premises or privately hosted to help support and run your business.

Depending on your business needs, functionality requirements and size, you can migrate to Sage Intacct or Sage X3.

We appreciate that changing your business software can be expensive, that is why Acuity will work with Sage on a case-by-case basis with the aim of providing each customer with a loyalty offer to migrate to another Sage solution.
