The Background

Correlation Risk Partners (CRP) are a London-based private equity investment firm who were existing Acuity customers previously using Sage 300. While the solution had met their needs for years, they faced challenges around:

  • A time-consuming month-end close process due to configuring and manipulating data within Excel.
  • Manual invoice creation in Microsoft Word for the monthly process of recharging their partner companies.
  • Needing to comply with Making Tax Digital and automated VAT submission requirements.

Aside from their specific challenges, as Sage 300 support was due to be withdrawn over the next couple of years, making the need to select an alternative solution that could meet their current and future needs top priority.

The Search

During the selection process, Acuity consulted with CRP’s finance team to identify the current and future needs their new financial management solution would need to meet. These included:

  • In-house report writing.
  • Consolidated financials across multiple locations.
  • Simplifed timesheet entry.
  • Easier allocation of costs to projects.
  • Migration to the cloud.
  • Comprehensive reporting on KPIs and Profitability.

CRP looked into alternative solutions as well, including Xero and QuickBooks, but on doing so quickly established neither had the level of functionality or capacity required.

Other considerations were Sage 200, however it lacked the necessary functionality, and Sage X3, which was ultimately too big and high-cost for CRP’s needs. Acuity presented Sage Intacct, an innovative, fully cloud based solution which was new to the UK at the time but well established in the US.

Through the decision process, CRP eliminated other options and selected Sage Intacct, confident in its functionality and flexibility to meet all their requirements.

The Sage Intacct Implementation

Opting for an “all-at-once” solution implementation, this meant all data was moved in one go. A fully hands-on, close-working approach helped to ensure the smooth running of the process and CRP appreciated the clear communication and support of the Acuity team and their Account Manager, stating;

The Benefits

The migration from Sage 300 to Sage Intacct freed CRP from the limitations they had previously experienced. Amongst the numerous benefits they now enjoy are aspects including:

  • Closing the books in days instead of weeks.
  • Hours of time saved by replacing manual processes with automation.
  • Greater insights into performance and profitability.
  • A unified team across the different business entities, with improved collaboration and communication.

In addition, having remote access to the system from anywhere via internet connection enabled CRP to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, with home-working easily facilitated – something that would have proved a challenged with their old system.
