Important information for Sage 200 Professional customers

It’s not uncommon for software developers to review the products they are offering and opt to phase out versions of a product or, in some cases, a product in its entirety.

Sage is no exception, and they regularly review the software and services they offer to UK & Ireland businesses to ensure they continue to deliver the very best innovation and support to customers.

As part of a recent review, they have decided to stop investing in some versions of Sage 200 and have now released important information on how new updates will impact older versions of the software.

This information is especially important for Sage 200 Professional users as critical updates will need to be actioned manually.

In this blog, we will provide you with a timeline of these changes, what they might mean for you, and what your options are going forward.

The table on the right outlines the various dates to note for any changes in Sage 200.

Latest Information

An upcoming licensing update will require customers using Sage 200 versions Summer 2019 or earlier to act before 30th September 2022.

After this date it will not be possible to continue to licence their product and within 30 days of 30th September 2022, it will no longer be licenced and will cease to operate.

If you’re unsure of how this applies to you, please refer to the following information:

  • Customers on versions 2013 – to Spring 2018 (2017.02) will need to upgrade.
  • Customers on 2016 Remastered, Summer 2017 (2017.00) Remastered, Summer 2018 (2018.00) Remastered are not impacted.
  • Customers on the versions below can opt to have a patch installed, or upgrade to the latest version:
    • Summer 2018 (2018.00) – not the remastered version
    • Winter 2018 (2018.01)
    • Spring 2019 (2018.02)
    • Summer 2019 (2019.00)

Sage 200 Professional utilises a variety of technology, some of these are provided through other software vendors and as with all technology, older versions are not maintained. By keeping your Sage 200 version up to date, you can minimise the impact to your business when technology is retired.

If you’re unsure of which software version you are using, you can find this information within your Sage 200 software by clicking on ‘Help’ in the top menu, and then selecting ‘About Sage 200’.

Licencing

In line with a variety of technology changes, the following versions can no longer be licenced after the indicated date and will cease to operate:

  • Spring 2019
  • Winter 2018
  • Summer 2018
  • Spring 2018
  • Winter 2017
  • Summer 2017
  • 2016
  • 2015
  • 2013 (R2)
  • 2013 (R1)

These dates could change at any time, so please check regularly.

We encourage upgrades to the latest version to ensure you get the most value from your subscription.

Licence patches

A licence patch will be released as an alternative to a full version upgrade for the following versions:

  • Spring 2019
  • Winter 2018
  • Summer 2018

Developer support / Extended support

Developer support will still be provided for the following versions during extended support:

  • 2021 R1
  • 2020 R2
  • 2020 R1
  • Summer 2019
  • Spring 2019
  • Winter 2018
  • Summer 2018 (remastered)
  • Summer 2018

End of Support status

Once a software version has reached end of support status, the software licence will still be provided though Sage makes no warrants or guarantees as to the duration or performance of the software.

Important information

Numerous factors can influence the software use, please note that for technical reasons a software version can have an end of support date changed at any time.

By the same token, an end-of-life date may also need to be introduced where one was not previously given.
